CARLOS OLIVA-VÉLEZ
Over the course of my career I have had the privilege of building companies, leading international organizations and working alongside exceptional entrepreneurs and executives.
From launching businesses to leading multinational operations, my professional journey has taken me through entrepreneurship, global media leadership and strategic advisory work across Europe and the Americas. Each stage of that journey has reinforced one conviction: experience matters most when it helps others navigate complexity and make better decisions.
I began my career in the legal publishing industry, where I helped transform La Ley, a leading information services company in Argentina, expanding its products and markets during a period of rapid technological change. Later in Spain I founded La Ley Actualidad, pioneering one of the first legal databases on CD-ROM in Europe in 1987—an early step in the digital transformation of legal information.
Entrepreneurship has always been central to my work. Over the years I have founded companies, developed industrial ventures and contributed to strengthening international business relationships, including the creation of the Spanish-Argentine Chamber of Commerce.
A defining chapter of my career came at Metro International, one of the most innovative global media organizations of its time. As Executive International Vice President and later CEO for Southern Europe and Latin America, I worked with leadership teams to launch new markets, build organizations from the ground up and scale operations across multiple countries.
Those years taught me invaluable lessons about leadership, international expansion and the importance of building strong teams in fast-moving environments.
For the past 16 years I have worked as an independent business advisor, supporting executives, entrepreneurs and organizations in moments of strategic transition. In 2020 I founded Concilium Business Coaching, where I combine my experience as an entrepreneur and executive with a deep commitment to leadership development.
Today my role is less about running companies and more about supporting those who lead them.
I work with leaders who are facing complex decisions, major transitions or ambitious growth challenges. My goal is to provide perspective, strategic clarity and the benefit of experience accumulated over decades of building and leading organizations.
Because leadership is rarely about having all the answers. Often it is about asking the right question And having the judgment to choose the right path.
